Finish written work with speech-to-text

When to use this goal

For students whose written assignments stay unfinished because handwriting or typing is slow, even though their ideas are ready. Present levels and the IEP's assistive technology, not grade, decide fit.

Baseline
For two weeks, compare the percent of written assignments finished with and without speech-to-text. Note whether unfinished work stops at the start, the middle, or the editing stage.
Tips
Teach and practice the tool before measuring (punctuation commands, fixing misheard words). A quiet corner or headset microphone improves accuracy. Count an assignment as finished when every part is answered and the text has been read back and fixed.
Limits
Not every setting allows speaking aloud, such as some tests or quiet rooms. Does not measure writing quality; pair with a written expression goal if that is also a need.
