Science Skills
40 templatesScience skills goals help students take part in science class: learning key vocabulary, following lab safety and procedure steps, recording observations, making predictions, reading data from an investigation, and writing a claim with evidence and reasoning. Good goals name the task, the support (a picture procedure, a sentence frame, a word bank), and how the student shows the answer. Measure vocabulary and classifying with accuracy, written explanations with a rubric, and lab procedures with a task analysis.
By the annual IEP review date, during a science table or discovery center activity with a natural object such as a leaf, shell or rock, the student will tell or show one color, size, shape or texture they notice on the object independently in at least 4 of 5 opportunities, across 3 consecutive weeks of data, as measured by opportunity-by-opportunity data collected weekly.
Social Studies Skills
40 templatesSocial studies skills goals help students work with maps, timelines, primary sources, civics, economics, and current events in ways that carry across units. Good goals name the material (a map with a key, a short primary source, a news article at the student's level), the support, and how the student answers. Measure map, timeline, and source questions with accuracy, and written summaries or comparisons with a rubric.
By the annual IEP review date, given 10 photo cards of everyday items (such as food, a coat, a game, a bed) and a two-column needs and wants mat, the student will sort each card into needs or wants independently with at least 90% accuracy on needs and wants cards, in 3 of 4 consecutive weekly probes, as measured by work-sample analysis collected weekly.
Digital Literacy & Online Safety
30 templatesDigital literacy goals cover how students use technology safely and well: signing in without sharing passwords, getting around a learning platform, searching and judging sources, writing clear emails, protecting privacy, spotting phishing and scams, reporting cyberbullying, and managing screen time. Good goals name the platform or task and what the student does at each step. Measure platform routines with a task analysis, safe choices like reporting or declining with opportunities, and source and scam judgments with accuracy.
By the annual IEP review date, at the end of a tablet or laptop work session when the adult gives the clean-up signal, the student will finish the end-of-session device routine before leaving the station, performing at least 5 of 6 steps independently, across 5 consecutive device sessions, as measured by a task-analysis checklist collected daily, summarized weekly.
