Answer questions from notes taken during a short video
When to use this goal
For students who cannot recall the content of a video or short lesson minutes later, and who have been taught a simple note format. This goal measures whether the notes work.
- Baseline
- Show two short videos: one with no notes allowed, one with the note format. Ask five factual questions after each. The gap shows whether notes help and whether the format captures what the questions ask.
- Tips
- Questions should be answerable from a reasonable set of notes. Score answers correct or not; also note whether the answer came from the notes or from memory, by watching the student. Questions can be asked 10 to 20 minutes after the video to make the notes matter.
- Limits
- Measures note usefulness as much as memory; if notes are poor, see study skills note-taking goals. Video pace strongly affects note quality.

Goal
By the annual IEP review date, after watching a 5- to 8-minute instructional video while taking notes on a provided format, the student will answer factual questions about the content using the notes independently with at least 85% accuracy on questions answered from notes, across 3 consecutive weekly probes, as measured by work-sample analysis collected weekly, with 5 questions per probe.
Baseline: 40% accuracy.

- Score only items the student attempted unless the goal defines a fixed set of items. Use the same denominator every session.
- Percent = numerator ÷ denominator × 100. Round to one decimal place.
- Record the support actually provided, even if the goal is independent performance.
