Redress in the restroom stall within a set time

K-2, 3-5DurationTemplateReview and individualize before use. How templates are made
When to use this goal

For students who manage their clothing after toileting without help but spend a long time in the stall pulling up, tucking, and fastening, so they miss class time. Base the choice on the student's toileting plan and timed data. Present levels and the OT's observation of the routine, not grade or age, decide whether this template fits.

Baseline
Time from the flush to the stall door opening on at least 5 trips, from outside the stall. Keep the log private and coded, and agree on the timing method with the family first.
Tips
Time only from the flush, not the whole trip, so the goal stays about clothing. Elastic waists and pull rings on zippers are fair supports. Keep timing discreet; never time through the door in a way peers can see.
Limits
Time can rise for reasons that have nothing to do with clothing, such as stomach upset. Not for students who still need help with fasteners; use a task-analysis goal for that.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, after using the toilet during a scheduled restroom break, the student will pull up and fasten their clothing, tuck or straighten their shirt, and open the stall door independently within 3 minutes, on 4 of 5 observed days, as measured by direct observation collected at one restroom trip a day.

Measurability check10 of 11 met · 1 to review
  • Review: Unit fits the behavior. Duration measures how long something lasts. The behavior should describe an ongoing activity.

  • Met: Observable behavior. Stated as an action.

  • Met: Condition. Stated.

  • Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.

  • Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.

  • Met: Method produces the metric. Direct observation gives duration data.

  • Met: Review timeframe. Stated.

  • Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.

  • Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about Dressing & Clothing Management.

  • Met: Level of support. Defined.

  • Met: Blanks filled in. Nothing left to fill in.

Checks structure and wording only. Whether the goal fits the student is the team's call.
