When to use this sheet
- Sustained attention and task engagement
- Writing or reading stamina
- Transitions or routines that should take less time
How to use it
- Agree on exactly when timing starts and stops, and write the definitions on the sheet.
- Note interruptions that weren't caused by the student.
- For goals to increase duration, compare with the minimum target. For goals to shorten a routine, compare with the maximum.
Questions
Should “on-task” goals be written as a percentage?
A percentage needs a denominator. If you use interval recording, “percent of intervals” is valid, but it needs an interval method. Duration (minutes engaged) is often simpler and more direct.
