Plot ordered pairs from a table

6-8Percent accuracyTemplateReview and individualize before use. How templates are made
When to use this goal

For middle school students who swap x and y or count from the wrong origin when plotting. Present levels in reading a two-column table decide fit.

Baseline
Include pairs where swapping x and y gives a different point, so the error shows. Record whether errors are swaps, sign errors, or scale errors.
Tips
Plotting from a table is the step before seeing a line; pair with ma-alg-028 later. Tactile graph boards with pins work for students with low vision.
Limits
Six points per probe is small. Graphing software removes the plotting step; use paper or a manual grid tool for this goal.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, given a two-column table of 6 ordered pairs in the first quadrant and a coordinate grid, the student will plot each ordered pair on the grid and label it independently with 100% accuracy on plotted points, in 3 of 4 consecutive weekly probes, as measured by work-sample analysis collected weekly.

Baseline: 50% accuracy.

  • Met: Observable behavior. Stated as an action.

  • Met: Condition. Stated.

  • Met: Unit fits the behavior. Percent accuracy fits this behavior.

  • Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.

  • Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.

  • Met: Method produces the metric. Work-sample analysis gives percent accuracy data.

  • Met: Review timeframe. Stated.

  • Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.

  • Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about Algebra & Equations.

  • Met: Level of support. Defined.

  • Met: Blanks filled in. Nothing left to fill in.

Checks structure and wording only. Whether the goal fits the student is the team's call.

Short-term objectives (optional)

When are objectives required?

Required for students on alternate assessments (34 CFR §300.320(a)(2)(ii)); some states require them for everyone.
