Travel between campus buildings by the bell
When to use this goal
For high school students using any mobility method (manual or power wheelchair, walker, crutches) on a campus with more than one building, who reach the second building late. The timed route and the passing time decide fit.
- Baseline
- Time three trips door to door at real passing time and note delays (doors, crowds, slopes, weather). Compare with the passing time and decide with the student whether practice, an early pass or a schedule change gives the most access.
- Tips
- Let the student choose the route and help plan it; they often know the shortcuts. Schedule changes that keep the student in one building are a valid fix alongside the goal. Teach the student to tell teachers about the plan on day one.
- Limits
- Not a measure of endurance or technique alone; the route and the crowd affect time. Outdoor surfaces and weather add risk; the PT checks the route. Late arrival is not a reason for consequences while the plan is in place.

Review: Unit fits the behavior. Duration measures how long something lasts. The behavior should describe an ongoing activity.
Met: Observable behavior. Stated as an action.
Met: Condition. Stated.
Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.
Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.
Met: Method produces the metric. Duration recording gives duration data.
Met: Review timeframe. Stated.
Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.
Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about Functional Mobility.
Met: Level of support. Defined.
Met: Blanks filled in. Nothing left to fill in.
