Mark answers on a bubble sheet in the right place
When to use this goal
For students who lose their place on separate answer sheets, mark the wrong row, or fill bubbles so lightly or messily that scanners misread them, which makes test scores unreliable. Base the choice on a practice test with a bubble sheet during baseline, compared with answers written in the booklet.
- Baseline
- Have the student mark answers in the booklet and on the bubble sheet for the same 20 questions, then compare; mismatches are placement errors. Also check bubble fill quality by scanning or by eye against a sample. Note at which question number errors begin.
- Tips
- Marking in the test booklet is a common accommodation; this goal matters when the team wants the student to use standard answer sheets or when an accommodation is unavailable. Short practice sets every two weeks are enough.
- Limits
- Does not measure test content knowledge. Practice sheets must match the format of the real test. Students with significant fine motor needs may keep the booklet accommodation permanently, and this goal would not apply.

Goal
By the annual IEP review date, given a 20-question practice test and a separate bubble answer sheet, the student will fill in the bubble for each answer in the row that matches the question number, completely and darkly independently with at least 98% accuracy on answers marked in the intended row and bubble, on 3 consecutive practice tests, as measured by work-sample analysis collected every two weeks on a practice bubble sheet.
Baseline: 70% accuracy.

Met: Condition. Stated.
Met: Unit fits the behavior. Percent accuracy fits this behavior.
Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.
Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.
Met: Method produces the metric. Work-sample analysis gives percent accuracy data.
Met: Review timeframe. Stated.
Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.
Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about Visual-Motor & Visual-Perceptual Skills.
Met: Level of support. Defined.
Met: Blanks filled in. Nothing left to fill in.
Checks structure and wording only. Whether the goal fits the student is the team's call.
Short-term objectives (optional)
When are objectives required?Required for students on alternate assessments (34 CFR §300.320(a)(2)(ii)); some states require them for everyone.

- Score only items the student attempted unless the goal defines a fixed set of items. Use the same denominator every session.
- Percent = numerator ÷ denominator × 100. Round to one decimal place.
- Record the support actually provided, even if the goal is independent performance.
