Record home practice sentences for SLP scoring

When to use this goal

For students accurate in sentences in therapy who practice at home and send a short recording for the SLP to score. Recordings give the SLP a sample from outside school and let the student hear themselves. Base the choice on sentence-level data and access to a device at home or at school.

Baseline
Score the first recording against the same sentences produced in therapy; home accuracy is often a little lower and that gap is useful information. Check that the student and family are comfortable with recording and that the method fits school privacy rules.
Tips
The SLP scores every target-sound occurrence in the recording. Share the score and one tip with the student each week. The description condition gives a sample closer to conversation. Use only school-approved tools for recordings, and delete them on the school's schedule.
Limits
A student may re-record until it sounds right, which inflates accuracy; that is still practice, but note it. Requires a device and consent; never make access a condition of services.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, when recording 10 target-sound sentences at home on a school-approved device or app, the student will record each sentence with the target sound produced correctly independently with at least 90% accuracy on target-sound productions in recorded sentences, in 3 of 4 consecutive weekly recordings, as measured by work-sample analysis collected weekly.

Baseline: 55% accuracy.

  • Met: Observable behavior. Stated as an action.

  • Met: Condition. Stated.

  • Met: Unit fits the behavior. Percent accuracy fits this behavior.

  • Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.

  • Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.

  • Met: Method produces the metric. Work-sample analysis gives percent accuracy data.

  • Met: Review timeframe. Stated.

  • Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.

  • Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about Articulation.

  • Met: Level of support. Defined.

  • Met: Blanks filled in. Nothing left to fill in.

Checks structure and wording only. Whether the goal fits the student is the team's call.
