Split shared household bills with a roommate
When to use this goal
For young adults who will share housing and costs, with roommates or in supported living. Needs dividing amounts and tracking who paid; present levels in math with a calculator decide fit, not grade.
- Baseline
- Give 2 or 3 short probes with real-looking documents at the student's reading level, allowing the calculator the student will use as an adult. Score each item right or wrong and note the error type (reading the document, choosing the operation, or calculation). Include one uneven split (one roommate has the larger room) once even splits are steady.
- Tips
- Pair with a communication goal for talking about money with roommates. Money apps for splitting bills are a fair tool.
- Limits
- Real shared costs involve agreements the roommates make; the goal covers the math and the record.

Goal
By the annual IEP review date, given a month of sample shared bills (rent, electricity, internet, groceries), the number of roommates, and a phone calculator, the student will find each person's share of every bill and the total each person owes independently with at least 85% accuracy on shared bill splits and totals, in 3 of 4 consecutive biweekly probes, as measured by work-sample analysis collected every two weeks.
Baseline: 40% accuracy.

- Score only items the student attempted unless the goal defines a fixed set of items. Use the same denominator every session.
- Percent = numerator ÷ denominator × 100. Round to one decimal place.
- Record the support actually provided, even if the goal is independent performance.
