Arrive with the required materials for each class
When to use this goal
For secondary students who arrive without a notebook, charged device, pencil, or the assigned book. Base the choice on a two-week materials check. The organization side (keeping a binder, packing a bag) is in executive-function organization; this measures arriving prepared.
- Baseline
- Have each teacher mark prepared or not prepared for 10 class periods and note which item was missing. If one item (a charger, a specific book) is missing most of the time, the fix may be a second copy or a classroom charger rather than a goal. Confirm the student has a locker or bag system that works.
- Tips
- Keep the required list short and the same every day where possible. A borrowed item counts as prepared if borrowed before the bell; that is a reasonable skill in itself. Teachers mark a single box per period so logging is realistic; the case manager summarizes.
- Limits
- Teacher logging is inconsistent across 6 periods; expect gaps. Does not measure whether the materials are used. Families may need to be involved if materials are left at home or at a second household.

Goal
By the annual IEP review date, at the start of each class period with the required materials listed on the syllabus or class board, the student will arrive with all required materials (listed per class) and place them on the desk within 2 minutes of the bell independently in at least 8 of 10 opportunities, across 3 consecutive 2-week data summaries, as measured by direct observation collected each class period, logged by the teacher, summarized every 2 weeks.

- Record up to 10 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
