Take notes during a history lecture or video
When to use this goal
For high school students who try to write everything a teacher says and fall behind, or write nothing. Present levels in listening comprehension and handwriting or typing speed decide which supports fit.
- Baseline
- Compare the student's notes to the teacher's slide list of main points. Note whether the student falls behind (notes stop mid-lecture) or keeps up with little content.
- Tips
- Guided notes are a strong bridge. Typed notes or recorded lectures may be accommodations; name them in the condition when used. The student can compare notes with a partner to check for gaps.
- Limits
- Lectures differ in pace and clarity. The rubric scores the notes, not whether they help on tests.
