Bring a requested item from home the next day
When to use this goal
For students whose present levels show requested items (a signed form, a library book, a show-and-tell object) never arrive, even when the student wants to bring them. Needs a family willing to support a reminder system.
- Baseline
- Track the next several requests and whether the item arrived the next day or at all. Ask the family where the request gets lost: never heard about it, remembered at bedtime, forgot in the morning. Each has a different fix.
- Tips
- Each request is one opportunity. Met means the item is at school the next school day. The strategy chain is: write it at school, see it at home, place the item by the backpack. Planned low-stakes requests (bring a favorite book) can add opportunities.
- Limits
- Depends on home routines and on the item being available at home. Not every missed item is a memory failure; check the family's side first.

Goal
By the annual IEP review date, when asked at school to bring a specific item from home the next day, the student will bring the requested item to school the next day independently in at least 4 of 5 opportunities, across 3 consecutive monthly summaries, as measured by opportunity-by-opportunity data collected each request and summarized monthly.

- Record up to 5 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
