Find a sale price with a phone calculator

9-12Percent accuracyTemplateReview and individualize before use. How templates are made
When to use this goal

For older students who shop and see percent-off signs but do not know the new price. Present levels in calculator use and reading percents decide fit. The percent key is used; mental math is not required.

Baseline
Score 10 problems. Note confusions between percent off and dollars off.
Tips
Teach the half-off check (50 percent off means half the price) as a sense check. Phone calculators differ; teach on the student's phone.
Limits
Tax and stacked discounts complicate real totals. Does not measure deciding whether the deal is worth it.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, given 10 cards with a price and a percent off (10, 20, 25, 50 percent), and a phone calculator, the student will find the sale price on the calculator and say how much is saved independently with at least 80% accuracy on sale price problems, in 3 of 4 consecutive weekly probes, as measured by work-sample analysis collected weekly.
