Plan high school courses in eighth grade
When to use this goal
For eighth graders choosing ninth-grade courses who let others choose for them. Present levels in reading course descriptions and career awareness decide whether choices are presented with photos and plain language.
- Baseline
- Score a first draft with the template only. Most eighth graders leave later years blank; that row is expected to grow slowly.
- Tips
- Use the plan at the eighth-grade IEP meeting; in some states transition planning begins at 14. Revisit it each year in high school (fn-tr-021).
- Limits
- Plans change often in early high school. Course choices depend on availability.
