Enter spreadsheet data at a steady rate
When to use this goal
For students in office placements who enter data accurately but slowly, such as inventory counts, survey responses or contact lists. Keyboarding and accuracy must already be solid; present levels in typing decide the target.
- Baseline
- Time 3 samples and count only fully correct entries (every field right). Ask the office what rate a staff member reaches to set a realistic target.
- Tips
- Use fictional or non-confidential data for practice. Screen readers, word prediction or a number pad can be used if the student would use them on the job; the AT specialist can help.
- Limits
- Rate depends on form layout; keep forms the same across samples. Does not measure checking own work.

Goal
By the annual IEP review date, given paper forms with data to enter, a spreadsheet template and a 10-minute timed work sample (total divided by 10 for the per-minute rate), the student will enter each record correctly into the right cells during the timed sample independently at a rate of at least 5 correct entries per minute, on 3 consecutive weekly timed samples, as measured by timed probes collected weekly.
Baseline: 2 correct entries per minute.

Met: Observable behavior. Stated as an action.
Met: Condition. Stated.
Met: Unit fits the behavior. Rate (per minute) fits this behavior.
Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.
Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.
Met: Method produces the metric. Timed probes gives rate (per minute) data.
Met: Review timeframe. Stated.
Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.
Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about Vocational & Work Readiness.
Met: Level of support. Defined.
Met: Blanks filled in. Nothing left to fill in.
Checks structure and wording only. Whether the goal fits the student is the team's call.
Short-term objectives (optional)
When are objectives required?Required for students on alternate assessments (34 CFR §300.320(a)(2)(ii)); some states require them for everyone.
