Choose the protective gear each task needs
When to use this goal
For students who will put on gear when it is handed to them but cannot work out which gear a new task needs, such as goggles for spraying cleaner or ear protection for a floor buffer. Present levels in matching and in reading task cards decide fit.
- Baseline
- Score a task correct only when all needed gear was chosen and nothing unneeded was added. Note whether errors are missed gear (more serious) or extra gear.
- Tips
- Build task cards from what the student does now and will do next placement. Once matching is solid, move to fn-voc-067 for putting the gear on at the real task.
- Limits
- Matching on cards does not show the student wears the gear at work. Gear rules come from the employer; always use the site's own requirements.

Goal
By the annual IEP review date, given 10 photo cards of job tasks from the student's placements and a tray of gloves, goggles, hairnets, aprons, ear protection and masks, the student will pick every piece of gear the task needs and leave out gear it does not need independently with at least 90% accuracy on task and gear matches, in 3 of 4 consecutive weekly probes, as measured by opportunity-by-opportunity data collected weekly.
Baseline: 30% accuracy.

Met: Observable behavior. Stated as an action.
Met: Condition. Stated.
Met: Unit fits the behavior. Percent accuracy fits this behavior.
Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.
Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.
Met: Method produces the metric. Opportunity (trial) recording gives percent accuracy data.
Met: Review timeframe. Stated.
Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.
Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about Vocational & Work Readiness.
Met: Level of support. Defined.
Met: Blanks filled in. Nothing left to fill in.
Checks structure and wording only. Whether the goal fits the student is the team's call.

- Score only items the student attempted unless the goal defines a fixed set of items. Use the same denominator every session.
- Percent = numerator ÷ denominator × 100. Round to one decimal place.
- Record the support actually provided, even if the goal is independent performance.
