Count items in full cases by multiplying

9-12Percent accuracyTemplateReview and individualize before use. How templates are made
When to use this goal

For high school students doing inventory or stocking in a school store, cafeteria or work site who count every item one by one. Present levels in multiplication with a calculator and in counting loose items decide readiness.

Baseline
Record the method (counting all, adding cases, multiplying) and the time taken. A correct count by ones that takes 10 minutes is a real job problem.
Tips
Coordinate with the job coach and use the site's own stock sheet. Partly full cases can be added as a later objective.
Limits
Covers full cases with a known count; checking that each case is full is a separate job step.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, given a set of full cases or trays with a known count per case (such as 24) plus some loose items, at the school store or a work site, the student will multiply the number of full cases by the count per case, add the loose items, and record the total independently with at least 95% accuracy on stock counts, on 3 consecutive weekly checks, as measured by work-sample analysis collected weekly.

Baseline: 30% accuracy.

  • Met: Observable behavior. Stated as an action.

  • Met: Condition. Stated.

  • Met: Unit fits the behavior. Percent accuracy fits this behavior.

  • Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.

  • Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.

  • Met: Method produces the metric. Work-sample analysis gives percent accuracy data.

  • Met: Review timeframe. Stated.

  • Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.

  • Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about Multiplication & Division.

  • Met: Level of support. Defined.

  • Met: Blanks filled in. Nothing left to fill in.

Checks structure and wording only. Whether the goal fits the student is the team's call.

Short-term objectives (optional)

When are objectives required?

Required for students on alternate assessments (34 CFR §300.320(a)(2)(ii)); some states require them for everyone.
