Form cursive capital letters from a model
When to use this goal
For students learning cursive who write lowercase cursive but cannot form the capitals, which they need for names, sentence starts, and signatures. Fit depends on cursive instruction in the school and present levels in lowercase cursive, not grade.
- Baseline
- Ask for all 26 capitals over two sessions and score each as recognizable and correctly formed. Note the student's own initials; those matter most.
- Tips
- Teach the student's initials first for a quick, useful win. Pair with mt-hw-016 (lowercase cursive) and mt-hw-017 (signature).
- Limits
- Only applies where cursive is taught. Some capitals vary by handwriting program; use the school's style.

Goal
By the annual IEP review date, given a model of each cursive capital on a desk strip, the student will form each cursive capital letter so it matches the model's shape and size independently with at least 80% accuracy on cursive capital letters, on 3 consecutive weekly work samples, as measured by work-sample analysis collected weekly.
Baseline: 20% accuracy.

- Score only items the student attempted unless the goal defines a fixed set of items. Use the same denominator every session.
- Percent = numerator ÷ denominator × 100. Round to one decimal place.
- Record the support actually provided, even if the goal is independent performance.
