Fill guided-note blanks before the slide changes

6-8, 9-12OpportunitiesTemplateReview and individualize before use. How templates are made
When to use this goal

For secondary students who fall behind during lectures with guided notes because they write too slowly to fill the blanks before the teacher moves on. Fit depends on lecture observation and note samples, not grade.

Baseline
Check 10 blanks from two lectures: filled readably, filled but unreadable, or empty. Ask the teacher how long slides stay up.
Tips
Abbreviations save time. Typed guided notes are a good option for students whose handwriting stays slow. Shared slides let the student fix gaps after class.
Limits
Teacher pace varies; note it. Does not measure understanding of the notes.

Number of opportunities in which the behavior is demonstrated, out of a fixed number.

Sample numbers. Replace them with the student's data.

Data collection

Each planned or naturally occurring opportunity is recorded as correct/independent, prompted, or not demonstrated.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, during a lecture with a guided-notes handout and slides, the student will write the missing word or phrase in each blank readably before the slide changes independently on at least 9 of 10 items, across 3 consecutive weekly checks, as measured by opportunity-by-opportunity data collected weekly, checking 10 blanks.

Baseline: 5 of 10 opportunities.

  • Met: Observable behavior. Stated as an action.

  • Met: Condition. Stated.

  • Met: Unit fits the behavior. Opportunities fits this behavior.

  • Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.

  • Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.

  • Met: Method produces the metric. Opportunity (trial) recording gives opportunities data.

  • Met: Review timeframe. Stated.

  • Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.

  • Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about Handwriting.

  • Met: Level of support. Defined.

  • Met: Blanks filled in. Nothing left to fill in.

Checks structure and wording only. Whether the goal fits the student is the team's call.
