Leave with the class during drills
When to use this goal
For young walker or gait trainer users who are carried out during drills because they are slow to start or stop when the alarm sounds. The team's emergency plan and observed drills decide fit. The criterion is every drill.
- Baseline
- Record what happened at the last drills (walked, carried, wheelchair) and time a practice walk of the route. If the walk takes far longer than the class, the plan should name a faster backup, such as a transport chair, used without hesitation.
- Tips
- Walking out with peers builds confidence, but speed matters in a real emergency; the plan names when staff switch to the faster backup. Count a drill as successful only when every part is done.
- Limits
- The goal never replaces the emergency plan. Walking may not be the safest method in a real fire; the plan decides. The target is every drill because a partial success is a safety gap.

- Record up to 4 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
