Return on time from a hall walk pass
When to use this goal
For middle school students who need movement to keep working and leave class without a plan, or who take a walk and do not come back for a long time. Fits when a walk pass is in the plan and the student wants one.
- Baseline
- Record sign-out and return times for a week, and ask the student where they go and why. If the walk is too short to help, the target may need to be longer, not shorter.
- Tips
- The pass is a support, not a privilege, and is not taken away as a consequence. Agree with the student on a route that gives real movement, such as stairs.
- Limits
- The time limit should fit the student's need, not the teacher's convenience. Does not cover students who need adult supervision in halls; plan that separately.
