Explain how the setting shapes what happens
When to use this goal
For middle school students who can name a story's setting but not how it affects the characters and plot (a storm traps them, a time period limits choices). Present levels decide the text level.
- Baseline
- Pick stories where setting clearly drives events. Accept oral responses.
- Tips
- Pairs with plot and character templates.
- Limits
- Requires inference; scores reflect inference skill.
