Ask for mediation when a conflict keeps coming back
When to use this goal
For students in an ongoing conflict with a peer that keeps flaring up. Present levels and the mediation options the school offers, not grade, decide fit.
- Baseline
- Review the last month for repeated conflicts and what the student did about them. Ask whether they know mediation is available and how to ask for it.
- Tips
- Mediation is voluntary for both students. Asking counts even if the other student declines.
- Limits
- Depends on mediation being offered; if there is no program, use an adult-led conversation instead.

- Record up to 4 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
