Ask questions during homework club or tutoring
When to use this goal
For students who go to homework club or after-school tutoring but sit with unfinished work and leave without asking. Present levels decide fit. Questions can be spoken, written on a sticky note, or typed.
- Baseline
- Have the tutor tally questions in 3 sessions and note how much work was left at the end. A student who finishes everything and asks nothing may not need this goal.
- Tips
- Count each question about the work. Repeating the same question counts once. Give tutors a simple tally card. Celebrate asking, not only finishing.
- Limits
- Homework load changes the need for help; record how much work was brought. Frequency does not show whether the help worked.

- Count each occurrence of the defined behavior per homework club session.
- Keep the observation length the same each session. If it varies, compare rate per minute, not raw counts.
- Write the behavior definition at the top of the sheet so all data collectors count the same thing.
