Talk with classmates using correct /k/ and /g/
When to use this goal
For students whose /k/ and /g/ are accurate in sentences and reading in therapy but not in talk with peers. Base the choice on a classroom or recess observation.
- Baseline
- Observe two peer activities and tally each /k/ and /g/ the student says. Aim for at least 15 target words per observation so the percentage is stable.
- Tips
- Observe quietly from nearby so the talk stays natural. Never correct the student in front of peers; give feedback privately afterward.
- Limits
- The number of target words varies with the activity. Live scoring in a noisy room is harder; record when possible and when the family agrees.

Goal
By the annual IEP review date, during a 10-minute center or small-group activity in the classroom, the student will produce /k/ and /g/ correctly in the words they use with classmates independently with at least 85% accuracy on /k/ and /g/ productions during peer talk, on 3 of 4 classroom observations, as measured by opportunity-by-opportunity data collected every two weeks, during class activities.
Baseline: 50% accuracy.

Met: Observable behavior. Stated as an action.
Met: Condition. Stated.
Met: Unit fits the behavior. Percent accuracy fits this behavior.
Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.
Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.
Met: Method produces the metric. Opportunity (trial) recording gives percent accuracy data.
Met: Review timeframe. Stated.
Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.
Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about Articulation.
Met: Level of support. Defined.
Met: Blanks filled in. Nothing left to fill in.
Checks structure and wording only. Whether the goal fits the student is the team's call.
Short-term objectives (optional)
When are objectives required?Required for students on alternate assessments (34 CFR §300.320(a)(2)(ii)); some states require them for everyone.

- Score only items the student attempted unless the goal defines a fixed set of items. Use the same denominator every session.
- Percent = numerator ÷ denominator × 100. Round to one decimal place.
- Record the support actually provided, even if the goal is independent performance.
