Recall key points from a classmate's presentation

3-5, 6-8Percent accuracyTemplateReview and individualize before use. How templates are made
When to use this goal

For students who pay attention to teachers but retain little when classmates present, which is a large part of project-based classes. Base the choice on comprehension checks after peer presentations and teacher report.

Baseline
After three or four peer presentations, ask three questions each and score answers. Note whether the student can hear the presenter clearly from their seat; seating and microphones may matter more than strategy.
Tips
Coordinate with the teacher for presentation days. Score for meaning in any language or mode. If peers speak quietly, a class microphone or seating change is an accommodation, not a reason to lower the goal.
Limits
Peer presentations vary in clarity and organization; note poorly organized ones. The goal does not cover giving feedback to peers.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, after a classmate's 2- to 4-minute presentation or project share in the general education classroom, the student will answer three questions about the presentation's topic and main points independently with at least 80% accuracy on questions about peer presentations, in 3 of 4 consecutive weekly probes, as measured by work-sample analysis collected weekly.

Baseline: 40% accuracy.

  • Met: Observable behavior. Stated as an action.

  • Met: Condition. Stated.

  • Met: Unit fits the behavior. Percent accuracy fits this behavior.

  • Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.

  • Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.

  • Met: Method produces the metric. Work-sample analysis gives percent accuracy data.

  • Met: Review timeframe. Stated.

  • Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.

  • Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about Listening Comprehension & Auditory Processing.

  • Met: Level of support. Defined.

  • Met: Blanks filled in. Nothing left to fill in.

Checks structure and wording only. Whether the goal fits the student is the team's call.
