Name the week's target words at home
When to use this goal
For young children in a cycles approach whose family can do a short daily home routine: listening to a list of words with the target pattern read aloud, then the child naming the week's practice pictures. Base the choice on the cycle plan and the family's time and interest.
- Baseline
- Show the family the listening list and the practice pictures, and do one round together so they know what counts as correct. Ask which days and times work; a few days a week is still helpful.
- Tips
- Each practice picture is one trial, scored by the family with a simple tally. Families can read the listening list in any comfortable voice and give directions and praise in any language; the target words follow the pattern in the language of therapy. Never make home practice a condition of services.
- Limits
- Family scoring is less consistent than SLP scoring; check it against a quick school probe. Families differ in time and interest, and the goal must not penalize a family that cannot practice.

Goal
By the annual IEP review date, during a daily 2-minute home routine in which a family member reads the week's listening list and then shows the 5 practice pictures and scores each one, the student will name each practice picture with the target pattern produced independently in at least 4 of 5 trials, on 4 of 5 logged days in the last week of a cycle, as measured by opportunity-by-opportunity data collected daily by the family, reviewed weekly by the SLP.

- Record up to 5 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
