Rehearse a talk aloud from start to finish
When to use this goal
For upper elementary students who stop rehearsing at the first mistake or only read their notes silently, so they reach the real talk unpracticed. Present levels, not grade, decide fit.
- Baseline
- Ask the student to practice a talk aloud and time how long they keep going before stopping or starting over. Note what makes them stop: a lost word, a mistake, or not knowing what comes next.
- Tips
- Time continuous rehearsal from the first line to the end or a full stop. Restarting the same sentence once is fine. Celebrate keeping going after a mistake; that is the habit being built.
- Limits
- Measures rehearsal stamina, not talk quality. Home logs depend on family time and are scored separately from school probes.
