Set up a job search account and profile

When to use this goal

For students about to apply online who have never created an account on a job site or employer portal. Present levels in device use, reading and recall of personal information decide the supports; the family is involved in choosing the email and storing passwords.

Baseline
Use a practice or demonstration site for the baseline when possible. Note steps where the student gets stuck on site rules (password requirements, verification codes), which may need a separate mini-lesson.
Tips
Agree with the family on which email address to use and where passwords are kept; staff never keep the student's passwords. Practice sites let the student repeat the routine without making many real accounts.
Limits
Sites differ, so the guide must be rewritten for each one. Real accounts are made only a few times a year.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, given a job search website, a school-approved email address and a personal information card, the student will create the job site account, complete the profile and store the login safely, performing at least 7 of 8 steps independently, on 2 consecutive account setups, as measured by a task-analysis checklist collected at each setup, with a practice site between real ones.

Baseline: 2 of 8 steps independently.

  • Met: Observable behavior. Stated as an action.

  • Met: Condition. Stated.

  • Met: Unit fits the behavior. Task-analysis steps fits this behavior.

  • Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.

  • Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.

  • Met: Method produces the metric. Task-analysis checklist gives task-analysis steps data.

  • Met: Review timeframe. Stated.

  • Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.

  • Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about Job Seeking & Applications.

  • Met: Level of support. Defined.

  • Met: Blanks filled in. Nothing left to fill in.

Checks structure and wording only. Whether the goal fits the student is the team's call.
