Choose words from a picture word bank

K-2OpportunitiesTemplateReview and individualize before use. How templates are made
When to use this goal

For beginning writers who cannot yet spell the words they want and are starting with an on-screen picture word bank or simple word prediction. Present levels in letter knowledge and in reading pictures decide fit.

Baseline
Watch a writing session and count the words the student wanted but could not spell; record how many they found with the word bank.
Tips
Each word the student needed is one opportunity. Update the word bank for each topic.
Limits
Using a word bank is not spelling; spelling instruction continues. The AT specialist and team choose the tool from an AT assessment and trial data; the template measures what the student does with it, not the tool's quality.

Original IEP Atlas template based on general measurement principles; not copied from any goal bank. ID ac-at-004.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, during a writing task on a tablet or computer, with an on-screen picture word bank for the topic, the student will type the first letter or open the word bank and choose the word they want independently in at least 6 of 8 opportunities, on 4 of 5 observed days, as measured by direct observation collected twice weekly.
