Pick the AT tool that fits the task
When to use this goal
For students with several AT tools (text-to-speech, speech-to-text, word prediction, organizers) who wait to be told which to use. Present levels in using each tool decide fit.
- Baseline
- Present five tasks and record the tool chosen and whether it fit. Ask how the student decided.
- Tips
- More than one choice can be right; score whether the choice is reasonable and explained. Choosing no tool is fine when the task does not need one.
- Limits
- Scoring needs judgment; agree on reasonable choices ahead of time. The AT specialist and team choose the tool from an AT assessment and trial data; the template measures what the student does with it, not the tool's quality.

- Record up to 5 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
