Fingerspell own name and short words

When to use this goal

For young signers learning to fingerspell their name and short familiar words, which links ASL and printed English. Present levels in the manual alphabet and in letter knowledge decide fit.

Baseline
Probe their name and 10 short words. Score a word correct when every letter is clear and in order.
Tips
Fingerspelling and print support each other; use both in literacy time.
Limits
Handshape clarity grows with fine motor skills. ASL is a complete language; this template measures one access or language skill, and the student's broader language goals belong in expressive and receptive language with sign as the mode.

Original IEP Atlas template based on general measurement principles; not copied from any goal bank. ID ac-sig-006.
