Summarize a signed lecture or video
When to use this goal
For older signing students who watch signed lectures, interpreted classes, or ASL videos and need to pull out key points for study. Present levels in receptive ASL and note-taking decide fit.
- Baseline
- List the key points of each lecture ahead of time and score the summary against them. Accept ASL or English summaries.
- Tips
- Taking notes while watching signs is hard; many Deaf students use note-takers. The goal builds summary skills either way.
- Limits
- ASL is a complete language; this template measures one access or language skill, and the student's broader language goals belong in expressive and receptive language with sign as the mode.

- Score only items the student attempted unless the goal defines a fixed set of items. Use the same denominator every session.
- Percent = numerator ÷ denominator × 100. Round to one decimal place.
- Record the support actually provided, even if the goal is independent performance.
