Move to the next center when the rotation signal is given

PK, K-2OpportunitiesTemplateReview and individualize before use. How templates are made
When to use this goal

For young students who stay at a preferred center, go to the wrong center, or wander during rotations. Base the choice on current rotations. Transitioning on request in general is in following-adult-directions; this template is specific to a posted rotation chart.

Baseline
Record 5 rotations: moved to the correct center within 1 minute, moved to the wrong center, stayed, or wandered. Note which center the student was leaving; leaving a preferred center is the hardest rotation and may need bh-dir-007 alongside.
Tips
Keep the rotation order the same for several weeks and put the preferred center last or after the hardest one. Teach chart reading when calm. A student who moves to the right center but does not start the activity has met this goal; participation is a separate measure.
Limits
Only fits classrooms with a visual rotation system. Rotation counts per day are small; summarize weekly.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, when the rotation signal is given during center time with a picture rotation chart posted, the student will move to the next center shown on the chart within 1 minute of the signal independently in at least 4 of 5 opportunities, across 3 consecutive data collection days, as measured by opportunity-by-opportunity data collected daily, each rotation during center time.

  • Met: Observable behavior. Stated as an action.

  • Met: Condition. Stated.

  • Met: Unit fits the behavior. Opportunities fits this behavior.

  • Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.

  • Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.

  • Met: Method produces the metric. Opportunity (trial) recording gives opportunities data.

  • Met: Review timeframe. Stated.

  • Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.

  • Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about Classroom Expectations & Routines.

  • Met: Level of support. Defined.

  • Met: Blanks filled in. Nothing left to fill in.

Checks structure and wording only. Whether the goal fits the student is the team's call.
