Walk through first aid for a practice scenario
When to use this goal
For middle and high school students in health class who know first aid facts but freeze or skip steps when given a scenario, such as a nosebleed, a small cut, or a minor burn. Present levels, not grade, decide fit. Steps follow the school nurse's guidance.
- Baseline
- Score two scenarios before teaching. Note whether the student skips the safety step or the tell-an-adult step.
- Tips
- Score each row 0 to 2. Use practice partners or manikins and never real injuries. Steps come from the nurse and the health curriculum.
- Limits
- A practice scenario is not a real emergency. Not a substitute for certified first aid training.
