Finish classwork in a co-taught class

When to use this goal

For students in co-taught classes who finish work when the special educator sits with them but leave it half done when that teacher is working with others. The work should be at a level the student can complete with the class's supports. Present levels, not grade, decide the target.

Baseline
For two weeks, both teachers mark the percent of each classwork assignment finished in the period. Note whether completion differs by which teacher is nearby, by subject, or by station.
Tips
Both teachers agree on what finished means and use the same check-in words, so the student is not relying on one adult. A shared tally sheet on the class clipboard keeps data simple. Fade the check-in to a written reminder at the top of the page.
Limits
Completion is not accuracy; pair with an academic goal if needed. Co-teaching models change across the year (station, parallel, one teach one assist), which can shift the data; note the model used.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, during independent practice in a co-taught math or English class, with both teachers circulating, the student will finish the assigned classwork by the end of the work period and place it in the class turn-in spot independently, completing at least 85% of assigned classwork items in co-taught classes, across 3 consecutive weeks, as measured by work-sample analysis collected weekly.

Baseline: 45% of assigned work.

Measurability check11 of 11 met
  • Met: Observable behavior. Stated as an action.

  • Met: Condition. Stated.

  • Met: Unit fits the behavior. Work completion fits this behavior.

  • Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.

  • Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.

  • Met: Method produces the metric. Work-sample analysis gives work completion data.

  • Met: Review timeframe. Stated.

  • Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.

  • Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about Assignment Completion.

  • Met: Level of support. Defined.

  • Met: Blanks filled in. Nothing left to fill in.

Checks structure and wording only. Whether the goal fits the student is the team's call.
