Deliver a group project part by the deadline

6-8, 9-12OpportunitiesTemplateReview and individualize before use. How templates are made
When to use this goal

For students whose group members end up doing their part because it is late or missing. Present levels, not grade, decide fit.

Baseline
Ask teachers about past group projects and check any group trackers or shared documents for when the student's part arrived. Peer feedback forms, if used, add a useful view.
Tips
Pair with ef-pl-019 for dividing the work and ef-pl-020 for checkpoints. Shared documents show when a part was added, so data take seconds. Make sure the assigned part fits the student's skills; a part that is too hard will always be late.
Limits
Group dynamics matter: a peer may take over the part or change it. Does not measure the quality of the part or teamwork skills.

Data collection

An adult observes and records the defined behavior during a specified activity.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, during a group project with assigned parts and group deadlines, the student will finish their assigned part and share it with the group by the group deadline independently in at least 4 of 5 opportunities, across 2 consecutive group projects, as measured by direct observation collected at each group deadline.

Baseline: 1 of 5 opportunities.

  • Met: Observable behavior. Stated as an action.

  • Met: Condition. Stated.

  • Met: Unit fits the behavior. Opportunities fits this behavior.

  • Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.

  • Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.

  • Met: Method produces the metric. Direct observation gives opportunities data.

  • Met: Review timeframe. Stated.

  • Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.

  • Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about Assignment Completion.

  • Met: Level of support. Defined.

  • Met: Blanks filled in. Nothing left to fill in.

Checks structure and wording only. Whether the goal fits the student is the team's call.

Short-term objectives (optional)

When are objectives required?

Required for students on alternate assessments (34 CFR §300.320(a)(2)(ii)); some states require them for everyone.
