Remain in a live video lesson
When to use this goal
For elementary students in live video lessons (remote days, home instruction, or a virtual service) whose present levels show leaving the screen, muting the lesson, or starting other activities within minutes. Families often help here; the goal is the student's part. Present levels decide the starting minutes.
- Baseline
- The teacher times from the start of the lesson to the first time the student leaves the screen area, turns the sound off, or stops responding for more than a minute. Collect at least five lessons and note who was nearby at home and whether materials were ready.
- Tips
- The teacher can collect data while teaching by noting the time at the first break in engagement. Agree with the family on what help looks like at each support level. Movement breaks scheduled by the teacher do not end the episode.
- Limits
- Home settings vary widely (siblings, noise, device quality). Connection drops are excluded. Does not measure learning in the lesson.
