Follow a class video with a viewing guide
When to use this goal
For students whose present levels show drifting within the first few minutes of instructional videos in class, so the viewing guide comes back blank or copied. Present levels, not grade, decide the starting minutes.
- Baseline
- Note the video time stamp at the first missed guide item or the first stop of more than 1 minute. The completed guide is the record: the last item filled shows how far attention held. Collect at least four videos.
- Tips
- The guide doubles as the data sheet, so collection takes almost no extra time. Captions on help many students. If the student can rewatch at home, record only in-class viewing for this goal.
- Limits
- A missed item can mean missing the content, not losing attention; check the guide items are answerable from the video. Does not measure learning from the video.
