Note a detail from each peer presentation

When to use this goal

For students whose present levels show attention fading during classmates' presentations, share-outs, or book talks, which often come in long sets. Present levels decide the target; accept notes in any mode the student uses.

Baseline
Each presenter is one opportunity. Score the listener sheet after the session: a detail or question that matches what the presenter said counts. Collect at least three presentation days, scoring the first six presenters each time.
Tips
The listener sheet is a permanent product, so data collection happens after class. Share the detail with the presenter as feedback when the class does that already. Generic notes (good job) do not count.
Limits
Presentations come in waves; data can be sparse. Written notes may underestimate attention for students with writing needs; allow drawing or a word bank.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, during a set of peer presentations or share-outs with a listener note sheet, the student will write, draw, or type one detail or question about the presentation on the listener sheet before the next presenter starts independently in at least 5 of 6 opportunities, across 3 consecutive presentation days, as measured by direct observation collected on each presentation day.

Baseline: 2 of 6 opportunities.

Measurability check11 of 11 met
  • Met: Observable behavior. Stated as an action.

  • Met: Condition. Stated.

  • Met: Unit fits the behavior. Opportunities fits this behavior.

  • Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.

  • Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.

  • Met: Method produces the metric. Direct observation gives opportunities data.

  • Met: Review timeframe. Stated.

  • Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.

  • Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about Sustained Attention & Task Engagement.

  • Met: Level of support. Defined.

  • Met: Blanks filled in. Nothing left to fill in.

Checks structure and wording only. Whether the goal fits the student is the team's call.
