Take directions from a peer group leader

6-8, 9-12OpportunitiesTemplateReview and individualize before use. How templates are made
When to use this goal

For students who do directions from teachers but ignore or miss them when a peer leader passes them on during group work or clubs. Present levels, not grade, decide fit.

Baseline
Observe group work for relayed directions and record each as done fully, partly, or not. Note whether the student asked a question.
Tips
Asking the leader to repeat counts as a correct response if the student then does the step. This builds working relationships with peers. Plan peer leader roles so opportunities happen.
Limits
Peer leaders vary in clarity; note unclear relays. Does not measure teacher directions.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, during group work when a peer leader passes on a two- or three-step direction from the teacher, the student will carry out each step of the relayed direction or ask the leader to repeat a missed step independently in at least 5 of 6 opportunities, across 3 consecutive weeks of data, as measured by direct observation collected twice weekly.

Baseline: 2 of 6 opportunities.

  • Met: Observable behavior. Stated as an action.

  • Met: Condition. Stated.

  • Met: Unit fits the behavior. Opportunities fits this behavior.

  • Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.

  • Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.

  • Met: Method produces the metric. Direct observation gives opportunities data.

  • Met: Review timeframe. Stated.

  • Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.

  • Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about Following Multi-Step Directions.

  • Met: Level of support. Defined.

  • Met: Blanks filled in. Nothing left to fill in.

Checks structure and wording only. Whether the goal fits the student is the team's call.
