Use a 24-hour rule for online purchases
When to use this goal
For high school and transition students with their own money or cards who buy online on impulse (in-game purchases, apps, sales). Present levels and family wishes decide fit.
- Baseline
- Review recent purchases with the student and family. Write an operational definition first (what counts as the impulsive response and what counts as using the strategy), and teach and practice the strategy before measuring it.
- Tips
- Buying after 24 hours is a success. Families decide card and account settings.
- Limits
- Relies on the student and family reporting purchases honestly.

- Record up to 5 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
