Set a weekly goal with a plan and a way to check it
When to use this goal
For students whose present levels show vague intentions (do better in math) with no plan behind them. For students in check-in programs or advisory.
- Baseline
- Score two or three goal forms written without coaching. Most students start with a specific action but no number or check. Also record whether last week's goal was reviewed; the review habit matters as much as the writing.
- Tips
- Write descriptors for each row (2 = fully present, 1 = partly, 0 = missing). Review last week's goal before writing a new one. Keep goals small enough to meet in a week so the student experiences follow-through.
- Limits
- Measures the written goal, not whether it was met; track that as a separate count. Some students write goals adults want to hear; involve the student in choosing the area.

Goal
By the annual IEP review date, during a weekly check-in with a case manager or counselor, the student will write a weekly goal that meets the goal-setting rubric independently, earning a score of at least 7 out of 8 on a 4-row weekly goal rubric scored 0 to 2 per row, on 4 of 5 consecutive weekly goals, as measured by a defined scoring rubric collected weekly.
Baseline: 2 out of 8 rubric points.

Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.
Met: Method produces the metric. Rubric scoring gives rubric score data.
Met: Review timeframe. Stated.
Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.
Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about Planning.
Met: Level of support. Defined.
Met: Blanks filled in. Nothing left to fill in.

- Score each sample with a 4-row weekly goal rubric scored 0 to 2 per row. Attach or reference the rubric's score descriptors.
- Use the same prompt type and conditions for each scored sample.
- If two people score, check agreement on a few samples before relying on the data.
