Draft a weekly meal plan and grocery list
When to use this goal
For transition-age students preparing for independent living who need to plan meals ahead rather than deciding at each meal. Respect family food culture; meals are the student's choice. Present levels in reading and math, not grade, decide the supports.
- Baseline
- Ask the student to plan three dinners and a grocery list without help, then score it with the rubric. Note whether the list leaves out ingredients or includes items already at home.
- Tips
- Use the student's real food preferences and family routines. Shopping trips give a natural test of the list. Pair with a money goal for budgets.
- Limits
- Families shop and cook in different ways; adjust the rubric rows with the family. Does not measure cooking or staying within a budget; pair with functional math for costs.
