Compare weekly study minutes to the goal

9-12, 6-8OpportunitiesTemplateReview and individualize before use. How templates are made
When to use this goal

For high school students who set study goals but cannot say afterward whether they met them. Fits students who already plan study time (see planning and study skills goals). Present levels decide the size of the weekly goal.

Baseline
Ask the student to bring their study log for two weeks and complete the review without help. Score whether the total is correct, the met or not met statement fits, and a change is written when the goal was missed.
Tips
Each weekly review is one opportunity; met means a correct total, an accurate met or not met statement, and a change when it was not met. The change should be concrete (move Tuesday study to before practice). Keep the review short so it lasts.
Limits
Logged minutes may not be true minutes; spot-check now and then with a parent or study hall teacher. Time studied is not the same as learning.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, at the end of each week during a check-in with a case manager, using the student's own study log, the student will total the week's logged study minutes, state whether the goal was met, and write one change for any missed goal independently in at least 4 of 5 opportunities, across 2 consecutive grading periods, as measured by opportunity-by-opportunity data collected weekly.

  • Met: Level of support. Defined.
