Review and complete class notes within a day
When to use this goal
For students whose present levels show notes that are never looked at again, so gaps are found only the night before the test. For students who take some notes in class.
- Baseline
- Check notebooks for a week for signs of review (added words, highlighted terms, questions in the margin). Ask the student when they last read their notes. Most have never done so before a test.
- Tips
- Each day with class notes is one opportunity. Met means visible evidence of review within one school day: filled gaps, marks, or at least one question written. Review should take 5 to 10 minutes; longer than that means the notes themselves need work.
- Limits
- Evidence of review can be faked with a few marks; a quick oral check of the notes keeps it honest. Depends on notes existing; pair with ef-ss-005 if they do not.

- Record up to 5 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
