Record free-time choices in a leisure journal
When to use this goal
For students who cannot say what they like to do or what they did in their free time, so leisure planning has nothing to build on. Present levels decide fit. A short journal entry (picture, word, or tick) is enough.
- Baseline
- Start the journal and count complete entries over two weeks. Use pictures for students who do not write. Review the journal with the student monthly to update their leisure plan.
- Tips
- Count an entry as complete when it names the activity and gives a rating. The journal is the student's; they decide what to share. Patterns help the team build choice boards and leisure plans.
- Limits
- Self-report may be rough for younger students. Recording does not increase leisure time by itself.

- Record up to 5 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
