Practice an instrument for a set time
When to use this goal
For middle and high school students who play an instrument or sing in a school group and want to practice, but stop after a minute or two or never start at home. Present levels and the student's goals decide fit. The music teacher sets what to practice.
- Baseline
- Ask the student to log practice for two weeks, with a family member checking the times. Short, focused practice steps help students who stop early.
- Tips
- Time on the instrument counts, including warm-ups. The music teacher and the student decide what to practice. Practicing a favorite song for fun counts too.
- Limits
- Self-logged times can be rough. Time does not show musical progress, which the music teacher judges.
