Stay with a small group activity
When to use this goal
For young students who received one-to-one services before preschool and leave small-group activities after a minute or two. Present levels in attending to an adult-led activity and the early intervention report decide fit. Group size and activity length are set low and raised slowly.
- Baseline
- Time from the start of the activity to the moment the student leaves the group area, at one small-group time per day for 5 days. Note group size and the materials; preferred materials can double the time.
- Tips
- Start with materials the student likes and a group of two. The student can move, stand, or use a fidget; the measure is staying with the group, not sitting still. Add a peer before adding minutes.
- Limits
- Leaving because of distress needs a regulation plan, not a longer timer. Does not measure social interaction with peers.
